Making History in Los Angeles, Digitally.

For twelve years The Los Angeles Center for Digital Art has been dedicated to the propagation of all forms of digital art, new media, video art, net art, digital sculpture, interactive multimedia, experimental video and the vast panorama of hybrid forms of art and technology that constitute our moment in culture.  LACDA: A Documentary focuses on the origins and development of the gallery and how it continues influenced the L.A. art scene. The film journey's into the mind of founder Rex Bruce.


Rex Bruce

Rex Bruce is the founder and director of the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art.  


Shana Nys Dambrot

Shana is currently the Los Angeles editor for Whitehot Magazine, Contributing Editor to Art Ltd., and a writer for KCET’s Artbound, Flaunt, Huffington Post, The Creators Project, and Fabrik Magazine. She walks ground zero of the Los Angeles Arts scene everyday of her life and in this documentary she shares an extraordinarily insightful history of LACDA.

Daniel Leighton

One of Los Angeles most prolific digital artist, Daniel Leighton is a pioneer in iPad painting. His visceral, heavily archetypal work has been featured often in Los Angeles.

Nic Cha Kim

Nic is a documentary filmmaker, television reporter, playwright, and cultural activist, best known as the Founder of Gallery Row in downtown LA. Kim currently works at KCET on the news series SoCal Connected and for the transmedia culture series Artbound. He has been nominated for the SoCal Journalism Award and won an Emmy for a PBS featured segment in 2016 and 17.

Max Presneill

Many within the art community know Max Presneill as curator for the Torrance Art Museum, a regional art museum that has presented many of the art world's most respected names to the South Bay region of Los Angeles. Few however know that Presneill is an artist too, and a prime example of a growing wave of artist/curators whose hands and eyes are currently influencing the art world.
